Like a pearl waiting to be discovered in the Indian Ocean - this island lies at the entrance of South Male Atoll facing the infamous Vadoo Channel. Read Our Opinion
The Vadoo Villas were the first water bungalows built in the Maldives over 20 years ago (though they of course have been updated since then) - they are situated in the lagoon of one of the smallest and most exclusive islands in the Maldives.
Vadoo is only 15 minutes by speedboat from the international airport - however travelling just those 5 miles will take you to a beautiful island paradise.
An unusual resort with an authentic Asian air - not your traditional Maldivian island.
Atmosphere: Distinctly Japanese themed, this resort has a pleasant tranquil atmosphere. The island is however very small, and thus the restaurant, bar, gym and staff areas take up a large proportion of the available space - the desalination plant is an unattractive concrete block set in the water at the far end of one of the beaches.
Rooms: All rooms are overwater villas. The theme of the rooms is in keeping with the rest of the resort - authentic Japanese elegance. Even the base villas have their own small plunge pool and jacuzzi, as well as steps right down into the water.
Dining: The main restaurant serves excellent food and a menu is available for all 3 meals. There is also a charming Japanese speciality restaurant
Activities: The diving at this resort is great - lots of accessible dive sites and experienced staff at the dive centre. There is plenty of wildlife around for snorkelling; however, the coral has been slow to recover from tsunami damage. There is no evening entertainment at this resort but the pool is amazing and has no official closing time.
