MOLHADHOO LOCAL ISLAND

MALDIVIAN COOKING CLASS
JA Manafaru is blessed to have a Maldivian as Executive Chef. Our acclaimed Chef Moosa Nazeeh and his team are delighted to share their knowledge of the local cuisine with you. Join a scheduled cooking class to learn how to make simple “short eats” (afternoon snacks) or book a private class to learn the intricacies of the spice blends and make a full lunch spread.

CALM SPA
Our spa sanctuary offers a tranquil place to relax and enjoy. Enhance your vacation with a massage, body treatment or salon service. The full spa menu is available on the JA Manafaru app or visit the spa for a consultation. YOGA

History abounds in these islands, which were explored on the trade routes between Africa, Arabia and the Far East. Make your way to our staff-curated museum to see some local treasures to learn a little more about these amazing people and this island nation.

MALDIVIAN STORYTELLING
The Maldives has a rich history of telling stories. We can arrange a beachside campfire storytelling session. The JA Manafaru team will weave the tale and translate to English from the local language. Marshmallows are available for toasting and drinks served on request.

UTHEEMU ISLAND VISIT
We are blessed to have the historical hub of the Maldives within Haa Alifu Atoll. You can visit this island with our guide to see the traditional Palace as well as Mosque. This island holds great cultural pride and significance to Maldivians as it is the birthplace and home of Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanu, one of the most revered heroes in Maldivian history. Did you know, in 1558 the Portuguese invaded the Maldives killing the then Sultan in battle and establishing their rule over Maldives. Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanu united the country and ruled the Maldives for 12 years until his death in 1585. During this excursion light refreshments will be provided, and you can also visit the island
of Ihavandhoo, where you will visit just one of six intact UNESCO-listed beautiful coral stone mosques which was completed in 1701.

Full of interesting artifacts and objects, visit our educational marine display adjacent to the Guest Experience Pavilion to discover a little more about the sea life wonders and islands of the Maldives.

JA Manafaru is blessed with a lush natural forest that is “old” by Maldives standards. This means we have well-established flora and fauna on the island. Your guide will share insights into this tropical paradise during your nature tour.

SNORKELLING EQUIPMENT
The team at our water sports centre will provide complimentary snorkelling equipment for the duration of your stay at JA Manafaru. Please collect your snorkelling kit from the centre located next to the arrival jetty to be fitted and for advice on the best spots to explore.

HOUSE REEF SNORKELLING
Head to the end of the Coral Jetty to explore the marine life of our private island and our House Reef. Check tidal changes with the team at the water sports centre and the best times to venture out exploring the reef. NOTE: Take care not to touch the marine life and coral and be careful with your fins when close to the reef. Coral is a living organism, the slightest touch can damage what takes many years to grow. we recommend snorkelling with a partner and using a life vest to get maximum enjoyment from your adventure. Daylight hours and mid to high tides are recommended.

GUIDED HOUSE REEF SNORKELLING
For the best snorkelling experience, our water sports centre team can be your guide on an exploration of our house reef. Intimate with the reef and its inhabitants, your guide will provide insights into what you see and point out creatures you would most likely miss by yourself.

NIGHT SNORKELLING
A guided snorkel of the house reef at night will open your eyes to many different creatures that appear after dark. Using our powerful torches, you can see another world of colourful fish as well as nurse sharks and stingrays going about their evening routine.

The Maldives has some of the most sustainable fishing practises in the world. Sunset and sunrise are the optimal times to venture out in search of a catch. You will practise the line fishing techniques that have been used here for generations. Refreshments are served as

GAME FISHING
Head out in search of the big four; Tuna, Wahoo, Sailfish and Marlin aboard one of our game fishing vessels fitted-out with modern fishing equipment. TURTLE QUEST
Enjoy the thrill of a speed boat ride across the atoll with your guide and seize the opportunity to encounter sea turtles. Your guide to help you spot two of the most common in this atoll, the Green and Hawksbill turtles. Watch them take a deep breath at the surface and dive into the blue to explore the reef for food.
