Kandooma Kids Club…completes every kid’s holiday!
Kids World - Within Lego throwing distance of the Recreation Centre, and adjacent to the Kandooma Café, the Kandooma Kids Club (KKC) is a world of adventure and wonderment for children aged 4 – 12. It is a place to be creative and imaginative, to engage and to learn. The KKC coordinators have been having a whale of a time developing activities for the week.
Wet and splashy - Mini snorkelling is a wonderful way for kids to practice their skills and develop confidence before meeting the fish. This activity takes place in the pool and in the shallow waters of the lagoon.
Dry and cheery - A selection of indoor supervised activities, board and card games, table games and fun learning has been developed as a part of the weeks programme.
Clever and nosey - Children are taken on a ‘see and feel’ adventure by the marine biologist as they learn to identify the amazing myriad of colourful marine life. Trips around the island to identify the flora and fauna are also introduced and a follow up painting and sound recording session to remember them is conducted later in the day.
Creative and messy - The chefs get a little hand with their cooking. Actually lots of little hands as members of the KKC mix, mash, mould, and mush cake mixture into moulds for baking!
Then later on it’s a picnic under the trees as they test and enjoy the proof of the pudding.
Play and fancy - Children take part in Kandooma’s version of the make-believe ‘Pirates of the Maldives’ as they put on costumes, get on a dhoni and rehearse scripts on their given role! KKC coordinators direct the ‘actors’ and plays on Maldivian legends which are filmed and then screened later that evening for their parents.
Safe and comfy - Baby sitting services are available for the little ones and can be arranged through the Recreation Centre.

Dive spot recommendations..
The dive locations surrounding Kandooma are destinations of choice for many resorts and diving safaris around the Maldives and are frequently visited by other resorts over two hours travelling time away. The principal dive spots are: Kandooma Thila, Kandooma Caves, Kandooma Corner, Cocoa Corner, Waagiri, Manta Point, Guraidhoo Kandu, Maafushi Caves, Maafushi Corner, Kuda Giri Shipwreck, Gulhi Thila, Miyaru Faru, Ranikan, Donmiyaru Thila, Rannalhi Kandu, Vaagalui Thila, and Embudhu Kandu.
Cocoa Corner - A reef located on the north side of the Kandooma channel, where the wall is steep and many caves and overhangs are found. Commonly seen are schools of sweetlips, snappers, fusiliers, groupers and at 30m, some white tip reef sharks, eagle rays, grey reef sharks and colourful soft corals.
Kandooma Caves - Among the largest caverns in all of the Maldives, this site boasts 2 magnificent caves. A challenging site, but one that showcases abundant marine life, among which include the yellow sponges, seafans, blue soft coral, small tune corals and often giant morays, squirrelfish and groupers. Along the reef, see clown triggerfish, Napoleon, sweetlips, angelfish and a great site to spot green turtles.
Kandooma Thila - Shaped like a teardrop, it is one of the most spectacular dives of this atoll, for scenery as well as for a prolific fish life. There are outcrops and overhangs where soft corals are good, but the most impressive feature is that you are sure to meet grey sharks, white tip sharks and eagle rays, which are found on the north east of the reef, along with tunas and barracudas. On reef tops where the hard corals are still intact, green turtles and sometimes a school of batfish are commonly encountered.
