This island resort is simply stunning. Medhufushi is constructed in traditional Maldivian style on an untouched and unspoilt atoll, with a superb range of facilities, all run with supreme efficiency. The island is covered in tall palm trees and fringed by a perfect white sand beach and aquamarine lagoon. The natural style is reflected in the use of local materials including thatch and timber in the rooms and public buildings.
Our Opinion
A picture-perfect Maldivian island with lots to offer
Atmosphere: Primarily quiet (except in the school holidays) but action is readily available for those that seek it
Rooms: Water Villas are large and luxurious but the decks do not offer complete privacy. The Beach Villas are not quite as luxurious as the Water Villas but are pleasant all the same.
Dining: The long-serving head chef has devised a changing menu of international buffets which are of an extremely high standard for this level of resort. The Asian cuisine in particular is spectacular.
Activities: No snorkelling from the beach due to the large lagoon but a free daily snorkelling trip is offered. The diving and watersports are great and some decent surfing can be had here too

Lagoon Suite
Our incredible Lagoon Suites are the last word in seclusion. As the most luxurious Maldives villa category at Medhufushi Island Resort, they are freestanding villas built over the lagoon. They are located in splendid isolation accessible only by a private dhoni (wooden boat). The captain is on hand around the clock to ferry you between the suite and the island if you want to leave it, or meals and amenities can be delivered to the suite upon request. There’s also a large bathroom with open-air rain shower and a double bathtub facing the sea.

Surfing
While central Male’ atoll is crowded with surfers, meemu atoll is an untouched surfing paradise.
The geographical formation of meemu atoll gifted it with great exposure to south swells and there are plenty of reef-pass setups that will often see bigger waves than the more popular North Male Atoll.
The beauty of surfing near Medhufushi Island Resorts is that there are many spots within a short distance of each other and waves that will accommodate every level of surfing. So if you find a reef sucking barrel that looks rather intimidating, you’ll likely find a more welcoming and forgiving wave just around the corner or on the next reef pass.

'Boahuraa'(Muli break)
These breaks have been rarely surfed and perfect waves usually go unridden. The breaks are unique for many surfers as only few boats take its trip down to Mulaku Atoll. The waves are 5ft - 6ft and fast. Perfect ride.
Good in North West Winds & West Winds.
'Mulah Kandu'
In between Mulaku and Veyvah (both inhabited Islands). A perfect Left hander which breaks 5ft – 7ft normally.
Perfect in North Winds and a playful left hander.
Mulaku (Peak)
In front of Mulaku (the capital island of meemu Atoll). A good right hander and fast. Perfect on west winds and South West Winds.
"Muli Inside" Right Hander.
Very fast, long walls, hollow, barreling, can be shallow but still save ending. Very well protected from southerly winds.
Needs bigger swells.
"Muli Outside/Mushrooms" Right Hander
Picks up more swell, good in southwest winds, long walls, can max out easily, on the corner easy exit.
"Veyvah" Left Hander
Perfect wave with long wall. Easy take of with several options with long rides. Not too heavy - Great Fun.
"Mulha" Right Hander
Can hold bigger swells. Easy to ride even when it is big. Good for intermediates and even beginners.
"Mulha" Left Hander
Pretty shallow, fast wave. Works only in certain times of conditions.
