Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa is your playground, offering a myriad of things to do in the Maldives. From active land sports, fun water sports, evening entertainment to memorable excursions and grand underwater adventures, there’s something to suit everyone.

Vilamendhoo offers an outstanding diving and snorkelling experience. A magnificent house reef surrounds our island, with direct access from almost every point on the island. Our prime location in the South Ari Atoll puts us close to manta rays and whale shark spots throughout the year. With a variety of regularly organised trips and a professional dive centre on-site, you are well equipped to explore the amazing underwater world.

Spend your day as you please, whether you are taking a stroll as you enjoy the island’s rich tropical fauna or out on an unforgettable snorkelling or diving adventure.

Snorkelling

Vilamendhoo’s spectacular house reef is home to an array of marine life, on both sides of the island. The reef is only a short swim from the shore and provides some of the best snorkelling in the Maldives.

To go to the reef, simply walk into the water and snorkel along the reef. Snorkel through any of the 10 ‘channels’ to reach the outside of the reef, where you can swim along the ‘wall’. If the current is too strong for your experience or comfort, then return inside the reef and make your way to the beach. When done snorkelling, return through any of the 10 ‘channels’ through the reef to reach the beach.

As you snorkel, do not touch or step on the coral as it is quite fragile and can take years to recover once damaged. When you encounter marine life, maintain a safe distance, do not touch or feed the creatures.

Scuba Diving

A fantastic scuba diving experience awaits in Vilamendhoo.

Our spectacular house reef is one of our main highlights, making Vilamendhoo a favoured bucket list destination. Explore the many wonders that the ocean has to offer by diving on our house reef, or on a guided trip to the nearby reefs. The crystal-clear water allows for excellent visibility and is home to over 150 species of marine life, including whale sharks and manta rays.

Our 5-star PADI certified Dive Centre is operated by Euro-Divers, who organise regular trips taking you to famous dive sites around our island. Euro-Divers also offers equipment and accessory rental services.

The Dive Centre is open daily from 08:00 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 18:00.

A marine biologist from Manta Trust Marine Biology Centre is available on the island, conducting manta ray research. Learn more about the majestic creatures that you are likely to spot on your diving adventures.

PADI Courses

Euro-Divers offer a full instructional PADI programme with beginner and continuing courses. The international team of experts aim to provide a safe, fun and memorable diving experience in the Maldives. Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate diver, with Euro-Divers, you are in great hands.

The professional instructors can assist guests in various international languages. PADI course materials are available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Dutch and Japanese. This means that you can learn in the language you are most comfortable with.

Instructional courses are available for adventurers above the age of 8.

Water Sports

For more thrill and excitement during your holiday in the Maldives at Vilamendhoo, choose a water sports adventure, whether non-motorised or motorised and enjoy the rush of being out at sea.

Vilamendhoo offers you the opportunity to learn new skills through water sports such as windsurfing, kayaking and jet skiing. The fun tubes and banana boat make the ideal experience for family, friends and loved ones to enjoy together, while catamaran sailing and the glass bottom kayak provide a unique way of experiencing the ocean, as well as the marine life beneath.

For those who seek advanced water sports experiences, choose stand up paddle (SUP) boarding, wakeboarding or water-skiing.

Rent water sports equipment and book your lessons at the Water Sports Centre, which is operated by Euro-Divers.

Land Sports

Still wondering what to do while on holiday in the Maldives? Vilamendhoo offers land sports and activities such as volleyball, badminton, Pétanque, football, tennis and mini putting green. Play a match with your friends and loved ones or join in the Guest vs. Staff football matches on Sundays.

To keep up with your fitness regimen while on holiday visit our Fitness Centre or enjoy a few laps around our two freshwater swimming pools.

Excursions

Vilamendhoo provides a wide range of excursions for you to fully immerse yourself in during your vacation in the Maldives.
